This isn't a resolution list, although I did enjoy the Sir Richard Branson blog on the subject, I did think my year in screens might take some explanation because it leads into where I hope this year will go.
Actually it starts on a phone on a train where I painted BAH on a Blu Win phone using the very lovely Fresh Paint app. It's actually been a fab Christmas. This is based on someone else :)
Whereas this is me :) Always looking for a stylus, always looking for a pen. More often than not the specific stylus that I'm looking for eluding me. This certainly isn't the stylus I'm looking for (a Bic crystal. Not a terrible scribble stick by any means but not good either and expensive for what it is).
For Christmas and New Year I tend to draw an image which I tweet out to friends. I was uming and ahhing about ideas when I opened up an app I like, but don't use quite so much, called ArtFlow. I'd started to doodle an image based on the picture above left - a copycat image suggested by a Facebook page - but never completed. I was surprised at how much I could see the numbers 2, 0 , 1 and 6 in the image almost immediately so finished it off on my trusty one M8, again on a bus.
Then, this morning, I had a lazy wake up time and finished this image which I'd started to create a couple of days ago. I was listening to Windows Weekly and, once the image above was completed I had half the podcast to go so moved onto the image below...
Both pictures drawn on Surface Pro 3 using a Surface Pro 4 pen and OneNote (balloon hat) and Fresh Paint (Weekly Whisky).
The thing that leads from these into the coming year? Confidence. In my art, in the thing I do that's different to the others. Picking up a screen, coming up with an image in an hour, whether I knew the app or not. Last year (2015) I had some constraints placed on me, this year I want to change that. I've got a couple of ideas, a couple of hoped for future directions, and now it's time to chase them down.
So now it's time to run, and to draw at the same time. Good job I'm used to drawing on a bumpy road.
